Learning Skills

Learning Skills Course Description

Learning Skills offers academic support for core content classes taken in the general education setting. Students in Learning Skills will receive pre-teaching, teaching, and re-teaching of subject matter seen in gen ed as well as time to complete homework, any missed assignments, and use any extra time accommodations being provided.

Prep for Success Course Description

Similar to Learning Skills, Prep for Success offers academic support for core content classes (Lit/Writ, Algebra 1, Biology). Students in prep for success will receive pre-teaching, teaching, and re-teaching of key content from core classes. Prep for Success emphasizes Effective Effort and teaches students organizational, time-management and resource-seeking skills.  Daily or weekly practices in Prep for Success include: binder/agenda checks, pre- or re-teaching concepts or skills (e.g. thesis statements), interactive activities, time to work on homework/assignments, and one-on-one School Loop checks.
